If I Could Live My Life Like Jesus
Imagine if you will, living your life like Jesus lived His life.
Wouldn’t that be cool? I don’t mean the nailing to the cross thing at
the end, but what if from the time you were born, you KNEW what you were
sent here to do? Wouldn’t that be like having the ultimate life?
Let’s think about His life for a moment. He came here quite normally
just like all of us—through his earthly Mom. Well, His experience was a
little different with His Mom having the Holy Spirit come down on her
and all, but after that it was a normal pregnancy and delivery. It was a
little strange with Mary giving birth in a manger, but hey, I’ve heard
stranger stories about people delivering babies in taxicabs, in
bathrooms, etc. So, for the most part, it was quite normal.
Growing up Jesus was just your normal, average kid. He probably went to
school like everyone else (They did have schools back then, didn’t
they?) (I just had a flash in my mind. Imagine going to school with
Jesus. That would definitely trip me out.) He helped out His father,
Joseph, with his carpeting business.
But one thing we learned about Jesus as a youth was that He took the
time to learn about the bible and about God. He spent time learning
about Himself and His purpose. When He was old enough, He started living
His purpose every single minute of His life.
What if Jesus knew His purpose but decided to stay in the carpentry
business? “Yeah, I know I’m suppose to save souls and all, but does that
come with a benefits package? What if this soul saving thing doesn’t pan
out? They even tell me I’m going to be crucified at the end. What if
others thought I was crazy? ‘Look at Jesus, the carpenter, trying to
save souls.’ No thank you. I think I’ll stay in business with Joseph and
help him run this. At least I know this is a steady income.”
Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? Well, it’s just as crazy for you, knowing you
have a definite purpose given to you from God, but making the decision
to continue to live a life that doesn’t allow you to live your purpose.
The main thing I’ve discovered that holds us back from living our life
as Jesus did is that little word “FEAR.”
But why have fear? If God sent you here to do something, don’t you think
he will make sure that you could accomplish it? He made a woman who was
a virgin have a baby!!! I believe anything that comes up in my life
can’t possibly be as difficult as this one sounds. He’s not going to
have us do something that we can’t do or can’t succeed at doing.
A brand new year is upon us. This is the year of endless possibilities.
(There is a Gospel House music record out by Bishop Shammah Womack
called, Endless Possibilities. This record is hot, too. If you are
interested in getting it, let me know.)
Let’s make this pledge together. In 2004, you are going to live your
life’s purpose. You are going to eliminate all FEAR from your life and
put your life in the hands of God. You are going to let God lead the way
and you will simply follow the plan he has designed for your life. You
are going to make a conscious decision to live just as Jesus lived his
life—with purpose.
