Developing a Relationship With God

Today I want to discuss developing a relationship
with God. Because when you truly have a relationship
with God, you can’t help but be on purpose. You can’t
help but live a full and blessed life.

What do I mean by relationship with God?

I mean a true friendship where God is the first person
you think to go to for everything in your life.

Most people send Sundays going to church,
and others of us spend additional days during
the week at church, going to Bible study, choir
rehearsal, and other meetings throughout the week
and we believe that by participating in our church,
we are developing a relationship with God.

It could be so. But do you REALLY have a relationship
with God?

People often say to me, I am a true believer in God.
I go to church. I read my bible. I pray daily, but I
have no idea of what my purpose in life might be.

My question is, have you developed a relationship
with God? If you develop a relationship with God,
He will reveal to you His purpose for your life.

Singing in the choir is great. But it gets even better
when you make God your constant companion and friend.

How do you do this? I will tell you in one second.
(Drum roll, please).

The Amazing Dawn Fields Will Reveal To You the Secret
to Developing a True and Lasting Relationship with God……

Ready?

Here it goes…

                          Talk to Him.

Quite simple. All you have to do is talk to God.

Now, I don’t mean simply talking to Him during the
time you have set aside as your prayer time. I mean
having a meaningful conversation with Him like you
would your best friend or your spouse.

You ever had a best friend that you talk to all the time?
I remember when my best friend and I talked all the time.
We worked together and then would get home from work and
call each other on the phone. We would also watch television
shows together via the telephone—especially, awards shows.
We would call each other during the commercial breaks and
say, “Girl, did you see that outfit so and so had on?
Oh, got to run, the show is back on.” When the weekends
came we would see what each other had planned and then
plan something to do together.

We enjoyed being with each other. We didn’t HAVE to
do anything together or call each other or work together,
but we enjoyed each others company and we had a great
time together.

That’s the kind of relationship you must develop with God
--that friendship where you talk to Him all the time. Call
on Him, not because you need Him, but because you enjoy the relationship
you have together.

You just talk to Him all day, every day,
all the time. That is how you develop a
friendship with God.

When you first wake up in the morning, say a little
prayer to God. Thank Him for waking you up because
He didn’t have to wake you up, you know. Thank Him,
in advance, for the wonderful day He has planned for you.

When you talk to God, talk to Him like you would your
friends. Most people think that when they talk to God,
they have to say things in a certain way. “Oh, Father,
I come before you today, in the name of Jesus, to ….”
Or they will say, “Oh Lord, I praise you. I thank you.”

Praise Him for what? Thank Him for what? Be specific.

You don’t have to be all that formal, either.

Here’s an example. You can get up in the morning and
say, “GOOD MORNING, God!!! Thank you, thank you, thank
you for that wonderful nights rest and for getting me
up and on time this morning. I know you’ve got some
wonderful things in store for me today and I thank you
for that. I want you to be with me all day long
‘cause I’m going to be calling on you and just
chatting with you all day today. “

And then all day long, call upon Him for everything,
every decision you have to make.

Ok, Lord, give me advice.

What outfit should I wear?

What is the best route to take to work this morning?

What should I have for lunch?

What can I say to Mary that will be exactly what she
needs to hear right now?

What can I say to my spouse that is exactly what s/he
needs to hear right now?

Give me the right words that will inspire my children.

What is it that you want me to do right now?

What can I do that will help me live more towards
the purpose you have for me in my life?

When you develop a personal relationship with God,
everything in your life will become grand.

ACTION POINT: Develop a personal relationship with God.
Make Him your best friend. Make a conscious effort to
include Him in everything that you do. When you are getting
ready for work in the morning, talk to Him. Ask Him to
direct your day. Tell Him you want to live the way He
wants you to live, so let Him know that you are willing
to do as He directs you.

Talk to Him during your morning commute. Talk to Him
while you are at work or going about your day. Talk to
Him at every opportunity that you get.

It might take a little work in the beginning because you
may not be used to it. But, like everything else, the more
you do it, the better you become.

Make sure you ask Him to lead and direct your life.
One thing that I want to add, sometimes when God sends
us a message, He might be quite subtle about it, and you
might not get the full meaning. Personally, I don’t like
it when He does it that way. So, I say, “Hey, God, listen.
Don’t try to be all subtle about it. Make sure I KNOW what
you want me to do. Hit me with it like a ton of bricks.”
And He always does. He will send message after message
after message until I get the point.

Finding God’s purpose for your life should be top priority
on your list, and the way to find God’s purpose is to go
to the Source—God. Develop a personal relationship with
Him and He will reveal to you His purpose for your life.
